Now we roll it up So you need to be on the other side.
-
So I can go... I'll go here and then I can walk there Here? Yeah. Just want to see if the pitch is similar Yeah, that's good. That's good.
-
From there I will go to Cusco. That's a city rather in the mountains and from there you have a lot of options to go hiking to Machu Picchu to stuff like that. And you go by yourself? I go by myself. Okay. Good. Um then these will go to the other side there. to other side of the house or... yeah, so here we'll put something shorter, I have plenty of shorter bits and then I'll cut it even and then we put a post like that, and we basically have a table.
-
Okay. It's okay? No. Yeah, okay-ish This has this I don't know. This is it not just like this right? Yeah, so we need something here. Yep. Alright, maybe time for a sandwich or something? Yeah, I feel that. So then putting all the rafters up there? Yeah no so not on the roof but on the table And thenI'll start with the outer ones. And then they are attached and they're gonna be like the final height. And from there I can go work into the middle. to level them all out. Chiseling, maybe you can help but it's a bit more difficult to chisel. It's a bit more refined wood working But yeah, you can learn everything.
-
Yeah. Do you want to have that roof done before the winter? That will be easy. It's not so much work anymore. The stone work is a lot of work. uh I mean now from now on it's going pretty fast. You know this week we'll do rafters, next week rafters will be finished, boards are going on pretty quickly then some roofing felt, "dampwerende folie" [moisture barrier] And those they go on the side There are 8 centimeters and there are spacers for insulation goes in. Then uh bitumen, this black sort of tar paper Then counter battens, they are the thin pieces over there and then big battens there on the bottom under the blue tarp Then stones. And in between that's gonna be a Velux the skylight. But those layers go on pretty quickly The stones are difficult, because they're all different sizes you have to hammer them and cut them a bit And that's uh yeah, it's a difficult job.
-
Okay, we can stack them up here too. So we need sixteen on this side and sixteen on that side. Yeah. We can start stacking it up here. Yeah. On top of it? Yeah It's gonna act as a fence. You go up So not really marked Somewhere there.
-
Um Yeah, let's try. And then every rafter, every next rafter is gonna have a slightly shallower angle, right?
-
Because this one's gonna be out here like that, and the next one is gonna be like that, next one like that and more towards the end of the roof they'll be straighter So let's just put it on, see if it's it's gonna go creep towards it. It's nice that his pile is finally gone. Kind of. Yeah.
-
You have a lot of potatoes. With your tomatoes and the blue. That's a German and Dutch person. Eat potatoes, guys! I thought six is enough per person Yeah, it is Sot that was not what you studied? your main job? No, when I was 16 I was... you know, you work at Albert Heijn, right? You make a few Euros at Albert Heijn And then you think nah I don't want to do that. So then I started to at Van der Valk Just helping out and within a year or half a year, like super fast, I was a rôtisseur, so that is like a trained job actually you know Rotisseur?
-
Then you do the meats and the fish, and then you have to organize at the rest times of the meat. And from that point onwards, yeah, I've I I realized okay I'm really good at this in a professional sense to organize these things and to manage the people and to get structure in that evening, plus the cooking. So and then I just kept doing that and I never needed a diploma for that. Okay. Because you can just walk into a restaurant and say: you need help? And they say, proof you can cook and then they hire you, right? so that's how I did that it so it fitted you naturally? exactly, all the way until after my masters, basically sometimes full time sometimes part time and then it was time to just start a Serious career, you know. A serious career..? that sounds very boring! Yeah, but you know what I mean? Like catering industry, it's such a junior, it's it's such a student job, no?
-
No, I wouldn't say that. I mean if you're a chef not, if you're gonna lead a team. Yeah, it is a stressful thing, I would say. That that's definitely true. And I also noticed I learned a lot of skills from that later were very useful so therefore with just getting regular... and just only having a PC days all the time I now also officially started a company in Germany to do private chef. Yeah. So that I'm now starting up. Too much computer work, yeah. Too much of a good thing That's often happening So I need to also use my hands a bit and talk to actual people instead of AI. I have to close the chicken coop before I forget it. making adjustable support braces for the solar panels
-
70 millimeters of rain! It was quite a rough night, some wind as well. The tarp didn't stay on. It's pretty wet inside, so yeah... Yeah first rafters are coming on. A lot to do, every rafter have to be worked on individually, because the beams are not straight Well, the flat parts are straight but the edges, the roundings, are different so it's al ways a bit of custom work to make all the rafters fit in sort of one flat space for boards. But yeah, two, three weeks the roof will be closed, and these problems will be over. Yeah we did quite a bit we cleaned up inside, the walls are pretty clean I'm talking about uh the creo suit Still a bit of smell coming out of the wall but I think I can tackle that later when uh uh the walls will be grouted, or pointed, so material will be filled in and I think there's gonna be some ways of cleaning it up.
-
ahh the sun is coming... And um Yeah, I was talking about working on the road this week, but because there was so much rain coming, uh I cancelled the excavator. And also the guys that were helping they only stayed for the day because it was terrible weather I'll be continuing with this next week and then the boards go on. First paint them, stain them, and then they can go on directly I was preparing the extension pieces for the solar panels because the ones in the back they have to come up now because the sun angle is getting quite low already But they need another layer of uh stain so and I probably have to do it inside because it's already getting too cold for staining especially on metal.
-
So yeah, probably finish that next week as well
